Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps formed from the ancient Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s knights bet on Hazard through a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the fortification’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French relocated south and located refuge in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair.
